Great that you pointed this out, Caitlin. It's mind-boggling and a little bit sad how so many people really believe in a "Plan B' for after we destroy the Earth. I think part of the reason for this is that they have no intellectual escape after watching society collapse around them, and being propagandized into believing other societies are worse yet (i.e. China). Therefore, space colonization is the only "mental" escape hatch.
